Situation in Myanmar
23-November-2007
Generally the situation in the country is absolutely normal and all sights can be visited. Although there are fewer tourists than usual for this time, but there are still steadily incoming requests for bookings during the next months.
There are no obstacles while traveling and everything is operating as usual. The streets are full of people, who are doing their daily business.
Despite the developments in Myanmar during September and October 2007 it is a safe travel destination. There is no danger for tourists.
In many hotels and travel companies (not Uniteam) there are discussions about cost cuttings. That means that mothers or fathers, who are responsible for the whole family, will lose their jobs. In an already poor country such as Myanmar that would be even more disastrous!
The same case goes for restaurants and vendors, suppliers, transport companies, cruise lines, airlines and travel guides. The list can be arbitrarily continued, but under the bottom line you should know that foreign guests in Myanmar are now more needed than ever.
