Qatar Airways Arrival in Yangon
8-January-2005

As the 11th foreign airline to provide services to Myanmar, Qatar Airways arrived on 8th January 2005 with its inaugural flight in Yangon at 17:50 local time.

As one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, Qatar operates non-stop flights between Yangon and Doha in the Middle East four days a week. This offers different routes for visitors from Europe with its various other direct connections to European airports. For its new service to Yangon, the airline uses Airbus 319 with a capacity of 110 passengers.

Having Yangon as its 10th destination in the Far East after Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, Qatar Airways welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the growth of tourism in Myanmar.

Qatar Airways has also reached a code-sharing agreement with Myanmar Airways International (MAI), which increased its number of code-sharing partners to 12, which includes Thai Airways International, Philippine Airlines, Biman Bangladesh and Middle East Airlines.
