5 days/4 nights
1st day: Yangon – Mrauk U
Morning flight to Sittway. After pick up at the airport by our tour guide, you will proceed to the Jetty and board the ferry to Mrauk U. The ferry ride takes about 5hrs, during which we will provide lunch.
3 nights stay in Mrauk U.
2nd day: Mrauk U
Today you will be guided on a full day sightseeing of the ancient temples and pagodas in the area, including the famous Shittaung temple, the "Shrine of the 80000 Images", one of the most well preserved, the Andaw Thein Pagoda, the Laymyathar temple and the Htukkanthein temple with its impressive spiral passage leading to an egg-shaped Buddha chamber and the beautiful Anoma Image.
3rd day: MAHAMUNI & WETHALI
An early morning drive on a bumpy road to Mahamuni will wake you up. Mahamuni is the former home of the famous Mahamuni image, which is now situated in Mandalay. As well as the new copy of the Mahamuni image, the temple features 3 old images, of which the middle one dates back to the 6th century BC (Dahnayawaddy Kingdom). On the way back we will stop in Wethali to visit the Hsu Taung Pre Image. This 5m high image carved out of a single stone was built by King Mahataing Chandra during the Vesali Kingdom in 327 AD.
4th day: Mrauk U – Sittway (Akyab)
In the morning we will return to Sittway by ferry. In this beautiful harbor city and bustling trade center we will visit an old monastery, with displays of ancient artifacts from Mrauk U and old coins and the Payagyi temple with its Rakhaing-style sitting Buddha image, cast in 1900 and Aha Tan Kyaung Pagoda.
1 night stay in Sittway.
5th day: Sittway - Yangon
In the morning we will take a nice stroll through the market in Sittway and through the Indian/Bangladesh fishing village to the north-east of the city center. After lunch you will drive out to the airport and fly back to Yangon.
