Lashio

With over 500.000 inhabitants, most of them Chinese and Shan, Lashio is the largest city in the northern Shan state. It is located at the southern end of the famous Burma Road, linking the country to China and used by the British in World War II.

Of particular interest are visits to the central market with its colourful mix of ethnic groups and the hot springs on the road to Mu-Se.
